They are going to be days and weeks and maybe months when grace feels far away, but that’s what we need to have our roots deep in love—love for each other and love for God and his word and as the next verse shows us, deep in our understanding of God’s love for us. Notice the two images that Paul uses to communicate this idea: “Rooted and grounded in love.” Being rooted carries and agricultural image and being grounded or established carries an architecture image.
